Big Boy Bamboo T-Shirt Review

A Guide To A Conscious Clothing Brand For Big And Tall Gentlemen

This post contains affiliate links which may earn us a commission.

Are You looking for sustainable tees that are both comfortable and stylish, but nobody seems to carry your size range? Read on!+ Coupon Code at bottom!

The sustainable fashion industry has been making huge strides in the past few years—but, it has an underserved demographic: big and tall men.

Sustainable men’s fashion shouldn’t be exclusive and limited to a certain size range. It should be available for every body type, because men of all sizes care about conscious fashion.

Well, that’s about to change, because I am helping to spread the word about a sustainable fashion brand for big and tall men called Big Boy Bamboo. And trust me when I say “big and tall”, because their tees go all the way up to size 8XL!

However, what I really love about this brand is that they are very inclusive, and also offer sizes for the average size gentleman. So if you (or your significant other) is average size, then you can shop the typical size range from small to extra large—like I did for my husband.

Hence, I’m writing this honest Big Boy Bamboo Tee review so you can see how awesome this brand really is!

Our Experience With A Big Boy Bamboo Tee

I recently ordered a Big Boy Bamboo t-shirt for my husband primarily because we’re working on making our wardrobes minimal and sustainable. Bamboo tees are both durable and eco-friendly, so they fit right in as the essential basics that every wardrobe needs.

I also read that clothing made from bamboo viscose is hypoallergenic. So if you have sensitive skin that’s prone to rash or back breakouts, this fabric is a fantastic alternative to synthetic, pore clogging fabrics.

Black Big Boy Bamboo Tee

First Impressions

You know how when you first un-box new clothing, and a weird smells enters your nostrils? That wasn’t the case when we received our Big Boy Bamboo T-shirt. That’s because bamboo doesn’t require any pesticides, and goes through a less rigorous manufacturing process—resulting in non-toxic fabric with zero stink.

As far as feel, we are so used to the slightly rough texture of cotton, that we were taken aback with how silky smooth the bamboo viscose felt at first touch. They also feel lightweight and breathable when worn!

We ordered the t-shirt in black, and the color is very rich and vibrant—most likely due to the fact that bamboo viscose absorbs dyes a lot better than cotton. And if washed properly, the color will not fade.

Big Boy Bamboo tees also feel a lot cooler when worn. It was a pretty warm afternoon here in Florida the other day, and my husband liked how much cooler he felt in direct sunlight when we went on an outing with the kids.

Overall, this t-shirt was an excellent buy, and I can’t wait to order more for my husband’s new ”sustainable” stash. I am also looking forward to Big Boy Bamboo’s future product line expansion!

Big Boy Bamboo Tee Outfit Idea

About Big Boy Bamboo

Big Boy Bamboo is an eco-friendly, down-to-earth bamboo clothing brand for big and tall men—specifically for big men who wear 3XL-8XL and tall guys who wear 1XLT-4XLT.

The brand’s founder, Andew, created the brand after acquiring a bamboo t-shirt while on vacation, and falling in love with how comfortable it was.

Andrew has since added XL bamboo face masks to his sustainable fashion line, and plans to expand with more products in the future!

We’re here to bring style and comfort to every man, no matter their size. We manufacture comfortable, stylish clothing for all men, from Small to 8XL. We do this through our dedication to using and promoting environmentally-friendly bamboo fabric.

What Are The Benefits Of Wearing A Big Boy Bamboo T-Shirt?

There are several benefits to wearing t-shirts made from bamboo viscose:

  • Bamboo t-shirts are incredibly soft and feel more comfortable against your skin than cotton.
  • Bamboo is breathable and 3x more absorbent than cotton, and does a much better job at absorbing and wicking away sweat from the body—goodbye body odor!
  • Bamboo t-shirts offer natural protection against UV rays—making them perfect for outdoor adventures, work, or vacations.

Bamboo is great for people with sensitive skin because it does not require the use of pesticides (unlike cotton), and is therefore non-toxic and hypoallergenic.

Big Boy Bamboo just added brand new inventory to their online shop with sizes ranging from S—8XL!

5 Best Postpartum Belly Wraps

The 5 Best Support Wraps For Postpartum Recovery

This post contains affiliate links which may earn us a commission.

Disclaimer: Content on this site is for reference purposes and is not a substitute for advice from a licensed health-care professional.

No matter what shape you were in prior to getting pregnant, your midsection will literally feel like Jell-O after you deliver your baby, and it has to heal before you can do any core-strengthening exercises—especially if you’ve had a c-section.

As your baby grows and your uterus stretches, your abdominal muscles separate down the middle and get pushed aside due to the expansion. And unfortunately, they don’t just spring back to normal like a rubber band—it takes about 8 weeks for them to return to their original position.

In the meantime, your core will feel really weak, and your mobility will be slightly impaired. That’s why it’s recommended that new moms wear postpartum compression wraps (or belly binders) to reduce swelling, support the weakened abdominal muscles, and speed up recovery time.

What Are The Benefits Of Wearing Postpartum Belly Wraps?

Postpartum belly wraps have a ton of benefits other than helping conceal the postnatal belly pouch, and some of them are really impressive:

  • Postpartum belly wraps provide abdominal support and help muscles (and organs) shift back into place.
  • Postpartum belly wraps provide back support, improve posture and help new mamas move around with less pain.
  • Postpartum belly wraps help support the pelvic floor and reduces bladder leakage.
  • Postpartum belly wraps help incisions heal, and make wearing leggings or pants more tolerable after a c-section.

What Are The Disadvantages Of Wearing Postpartum Belly Wraps?

Postpartum belly wraps are not suitable for everyone, and may cause the following complications if they aren’t worn correctly or worn for too long:

  • Acid Reflux
  • Heartburn & Indigestion
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Pelvic Floor Prolapse
  • Organ Damage

What Are The Different Types Of Postpartum Belly Wraps?

It can be somewhat intimidating shopping for a postpartum belly wrap because they are so diverse and come in so many different variations:

  • Shapewear (consisting of briefs, shorts, tanks and full body suits)
  • Postpartum girdles
  • Postpartum corsets
  • Elastic wraps
  • Support Belts

With that said, choosing a belly wrap that’s right for you depends on which one of these designs you will feel most comfortable wearing.

For seamless support, many new moms opt for postpartum shapewear. For back support, new moms often choose postpartum girdles, and for c-section recovery, many women choose the simpler elastic wraps.

What Should I look For When Shopping For A Postpartum Belly Wrap?

When shopping for a postpartum belly wrap, choose fabric that’s breathable and moisture-wicking. This is especially important if you are healing from a c-section—you don’t want your incision to become infected from built up moisture.

You should also make sure that the belly band you want to purchase is flexible and allows you to move freely without restricting your breathing. If you feel like it’s cutting off circulation, exchange it for a size up to prevent medical complications such as fainting, pelvic prolapse and organ damage.

Now that you’re a little more familiar with the different postnatal belly bands and how they work, take a look below at some top-rated recommendations.

These 5 Belly Binders Offer Core Support, Reduce Swelling, And Help You Feel Confident!

Best 3-In-1 Belly Wrap

3 in 1 Postpartum Support Recovery Belly Wrap Shapewear

Brand | Pregnancy Pillow Co

Size Options | One Size Fits Most

This 3-In-1 belly wrap by the Pregnancy Pillow Co is breathable, comfortable, and easy to adjust. This trio consists of a belly belt, waist belt and hip belt. Many new moms love that there are three separate pieces because they’re able to mix and match and basically customize how much support they need during each phase of their postpartum healing journey.

Specs: Belly Belt fits stomach 66cm-95cm; Waist Belt fits waist 66cm-99cm; Pelvis Belt fits hip 83cm-106cm.

Best 2-In-1 Belly Wrap

LODAY 2 in 1 Postpartum Belly Band Wrap

Brand | LODAY

Size Range | S—XXL

The Loday 2-In-1 belly binder is budget friendly, adjustable, and contains 5 plastic “bones” on the back for ultimate back support. These bones also keep the binder from rolling up when you sit—which occurs with many postpartum girdles. Many new moms with short torsos really like this design because it doesn’t invade the breast area and can be easily adjusted.

Best For C-Section Recovery

Leonisa Postpartum Tummy Control Belly Band Underwear

Brand | Leonisa

Size Options | S—XL

Not everyone is a fan of thick girdles, so if you still want compression and belly support minus all the thick wraps, the Leonisa postpartum control belly band underwear is a great alternative. The front panel has adjustable velcro sides for a snug fit, and it gives your belly a slimmer appearance while shielding your c-section incisions. The only downside is that you will need several pairs because they are, after-all, panties.

Best Adjustable Belly Wrap

Mamaway Bamboo Postpartum Belly Band

Brand | Mamaway

Size Range | S—XL

The Mamaway postpartum belly band contains two adjustable velcro belts that let you control the level of compression. It’s also made from a bamboo charcoal material and mesh weave structure to help you stay cool. Bamboo is also incredibly hypoallergenic and does a fabulous job at wicking away moisture—which is also a great feature if you are healing from a c-section and need to keep your incisions dry.

Best Basic Support Belly Wrap

Belly Bandit B.F.F Belly Wrap

Brand | Belly Bandit

Size Options | XS—XL

The BellyBandit B.F.F. is a popular choice amongst many new moms due to its design and comfort. This belly band contains a latex-free Power Compress Core, 6 support panels, and 2 compression panels with 2 tabs to customize compression level and fit. It’s also covered in silky-soft viscose from Bamboo, which, as mentioned above, is hypoallergenic, keeps you cool, and wicks away moisture.

10 Best Products For Morning Sickness Relief

10 Morning Sickness Must-Haves For Rapid Relief!

This post contains affiliate links which may earn us a commission.

Disclaimer: Content on this site is for reference purposes and is not a substitute for advice from a licensed health-care professional.

A majority of pregnant women experience morning sickness primarily in their first trimester. For some, it’s severe enough to require medical intervention, but for most, pregnancy nausea is tolerable, and can be relieved with over the counter candies, supplements and gadgets.

How Long Does Pregnancy Nausea Last?

For many moms-to-be, morning sickness kicks in at around 6-9 weeks, and can linger into the second trimester. Once the placenta is fully formed in the second trimester and takes over the production of progesterone, many pregnant women finally get nausea relief and regain energy (and get that pregnancy glow you hear about).

What Can I Take To Relieve Pregnancy Nausea?

Below is my top 10 list of recommended products for morning sickness relief that may help you tolerate the first trimester a little more.

They consist of safe, non-toxic, and organic supplements, aromatherapy products and even a couple of gadgets that offer quick and effective nausea relief.

All women are different, and what may work well for one pregnant mama, may not work so well for another. So it’s best to experiment with various products to see what gives the best results.

And if none of these over the counter remedies offer any relief, it may be time for you to consider professional medical intervention—and that’s perfectly ok!

Organic Preggie Pop Drops

Why This Might Help:

These sour-tasting, Organic Preggie Pop Drops have been around for years, and are made with botanicals and essential oils that help calm nauseous pregnant bellies. The only downside to this nausea candy and many others like them, is that the effects wear off once you are done sucking on them. The upside to having these around is that they are individually wrapped, and can be stashed in your purse, and easily accessed when you’re feeling queasy in public.

What Moms Are Saying :

The perfect pocket candy if you’re feeling the need for a quick fix when you’re out and about”.

Sea Band Mama Acupressure Wrist Band

Why This Might Help:

The Sea-Band [mama edition] is a knitted elasticated wristband which contains a plastic knob sewn into the side of the inside of the wrist-band, and exerts pressure which stimulates the P6 (or Nei-Kuan) acupressure point. It has been proven that pressure on this specific point relieves pregnancy nausea and vomiting.

What Moms Are Saying :

I was insanely nauseous this pregnancy and tried a lot of options, this one helped a lot. It wasn’t instant magic but after a few minutes you can definitely see a difference in nausea relief! Highly recommend!

Nature Made Vitamin B-6

Why This Might Help:

Vitamin B-6 has been prescribed for morning sickness by obstetricians for many, many years. That’s because women who exhibit severe morning sickness have shown to have a low amount of B6 in their blood, thus a supplement helps make up for the loss, easing pregnancy nausea and adding a boost of energy that tired mamas need! Vitamin B-6 can also be combined with Unisom for even more effective nausea relief.

What Moms Are Saying:

I was recommended to try this paired with unisom sleep gels. And it definitely worked after a week of consistency!”

Peppermint Essential Oil

Why This Might Help:

The scent of peppermint oil relaxes the gastric muscles and calms cramping which results in nausea. I personally used this remedy not just during my two pregnancies, but whenever I had a medical procedure or surgery which required anesthesia. Sniffing peppermint made my nausea disappear almost instantly. It’s my favorite pregnancy nausea hack, and doesn’t require ingestion.

What Moms Are Saying:

This was a lifesaver whenever I felt the urge to vomit. I poured a few drops onto a cotton ball and sniffed it until the nausea went away”.

Motherlove Morning Sickness Herbal Supplement Blend

Why This Might Help:

When taken first thing in the morning, the Morning Sickness Blend by Motherlove helps combat queasiness from all angles. Made with all organic ingredients consisting of ginger, peppermint, lemon balm, marshmallow root and red raspberry, this blend relieves nausea, and soothes indigestion and heartburn. This product does have mixed reviews, and some pregnant women recommend taking it after a meal rather than on an empty stomach.

What Moms Are Saying:

Took it for a while and it works, especially when you take it after the food.“

EmeTerm Electric Stimulator For Nausea

Why This Might Help:

This wearable wrist band is an electronic version of the Sea Band. It attaches to the the wrist via electrode pads and releases a low frequency pulse which adjusts nerve signals that travel to the brain and stomach. The brain is then tricked into postponing nausea signals to the belly, limiting the cramping which results in nausea. It’s a great and effective product, but it’s also expensive. The upside to this purchase is that if you suffer from motion sickness in general, you’ll still be able to use this after pregnancy.

What Moms Are Saying :

I have terrible morning sickness and it gets much worse in the car. I put this bracelet on before I go and don’t even notice the sickness anymore”.

Best Cloth Diapers Of 2022

A Guide To Eco-Friendly Cloth Diaper Brands For Babies

This post contains affiliate links which may earn us a commission.

Aside from being totally adorable and wallet friendly, cloth diapers can be very intimidating for many curious parents who are considering switching over from disposables.

After all, there are about 8 different cloth diaper styles on the market right now (possibly more), and each design has a different fit. So how do you know which cloth diaper will work best for your baby?

First, let’s go over all the different styles that are available to you.

What Are The Different Styles Of Cloth Diapers?

Flat Diapers

Flat diapers predate all diapers. They are a single layer of cloth (typically cotton or bamboo), and they need to be folded into multiple layers for absorbency. They are economical, but the downside to flat diapers is that they can leak without a cover, and they require safety pins to secure them in place.

Pre-Fold Diapers

Prefold diapers are rectangular pieces of cloth with multiple layers of fabric for absorption, and can be used inside pocket diapers or reusable covers. Prefolds are economical, versatile, flexible and easy to wash. However, they can be bulky, inconvenient, and must be upgraded in size as baby grows.

Fitted Cloth Diapers

Fitted cloth diapers resemble a disposable diaper in that they have an hourglass shape, leg elastics to keep messes contained, and they are easy to fasten. The downside to fitted cloth diapers is that they are not waterproof, and you need to purchase covers; they are also more expensive than prefold diapers.

Pocket Diapers

Pocket diapers are cloth diapers that contain a waterproof cover and inner pocket that can be stuffed with absorbency layers—like prefolds or inserts. They can grow with your baby and come in really cute designs. The downside to pocket diapers is that they can leak, they tend to be bulky, and stuffing/removing inserts can be inconvenient.

All-In-One Diapers (AIO)

All-In-One diapers have a simple design with a trim fit that prevents leaks, and they are made with several absorbency layers along with a waterproof outer shell. They are considered the most convenient reusable diapers for daycares, and can be used throughout the potty training stage as well. The downside to All-In-One diapers is that they are expensive and take longer to dry.

All-In-2 Diapers (AI2)

All-In-2 cloth diapers are very similar to pocket diapers. They contain a waterproof outer shell, but the inserts snap inside of the diaper instead of getting placed inside of a pocket. Parents love these reusable diapers because most of the time (unless there’s a blow out, you only need to swap out the insert.

Hybrid Cloth Diapers

Hybrids are a cross between disposable and cloth diapers. They have a flexible design, a waterproof shell, and can use any absorbency layer (cloth or disposable). These cloth diapers are also cost-effective, daycare friendly, and travel-friendly. The downside to hybrid cloth diapers is that some designs can leak, and beginners might find them a bit complicating.

What Are The Benefits Of Using Cloth Diapers

Cloth Diapers Save Money

Cloth diapers are reusable, which means that while you may fork up a descent amount of money in the beginning, you’ll actually end up saving money in the long run. Depending on the brand, the average household spends between $600-$900 a year on disposable diapers—and you’ll keep spending this amount yearly until they are potty trained.

So if you’re buying premium disposable diapers and your little one is a stubborn potty trainer like mine were, you’ll waste thousands of dollars on single-use diapers throughout the years that you’re just going to throw out. Investing in a $300 cloth diaper stash sounds a lot better, doesn’t it?

Cloth Diapers Are Non-Toxic

Cloth diapers are hypoallergenic and don’t cause skin issues such as chemical burns, rashes or dermatitis. A majority of disposable diapers are packed full of toxic chemicals (including fragrance) that are actually harmful to your baby and their sensitive skin. Cloth diapers are breathable and lined with gentle and non-toxic fabric such as cotton, hemp, and bamboo.

Cloth Diapers Are Zero Waste

While they do use up much more water due to laundering, cloth diapers are zero-waste because they do not need to be discarded like disposable diapers, and can be reused for many years if cared for properly.

How Many Cloth Diapers Do I Need?

The amount of cloth diapers that you will need depends on the age of your baby and how often you plan on doing laundry.

Many cloth diaper brands recommend about 24-26 diapers for a newborn, 20-22 diapers for a baby who is 3-12 months, 16-18 diapers for a 12-24 month old, and 12-14 for an older toddler who is potty training. This is based on an “every other day” laundry routine.

But, because of the overwhelming number of diaper changes in the newborn stage, many parents postpone switching over to cloth diapers until their baby is around 4-6 months old—and that’s understandable.

Do Daycare Centers Allow Cloth Diapers?

When it comes to cloth diapers and childcare facilities, each daycare center is different. Most daycare centers in the United States allow cloth diapers, and there aren’t any state or federal rules that prohibit daycares from allowing cloth diapers.

When it comes to diaper style, if your little one is attending daycare and the facility does indeed allow cloth diapers, then the all-in-one style is the easiest reusable style for daycare workers to manage (they won’t need to struggle with inserts and diaper changes will be quick and easy).

What Type Of Cloth Diaper Is Best Overall?

Cloth diapers are like infant formula—not all brands will work for your baby and you’ll most likely need to try a few different styles before you find one that works best.

I will recommend, however, that it’s best to choose brands that strive to make their cloth diapers as non-toxic, eco-friendly and hypoallergenic as possible—because babies have sensitive skin.

Cost-Effective & Eco-Friendly Reusable Diaper Brands

GroVia

Size Range | 6-35 Pounds

YouTube: Grovia

The GroVia cloth diaper brand offers almost every type of cloth diaper imaginable. Charlie Banana

Size Range | 6-35 Pounds

Lil Helper

Lil Helper

Size Range | 6-35 Pounds

The Lil Helper cloth diapers are perhaps the best for beginners. While most cloth diaper companies upsell their inserts, you’ll be ecstatic to know that Lil Helper includes inserts with every diaper, and they’re absorbent straight out of the box. These diapers contain 2 guide snaps for a good fit, a stain-free diaper cover lining, and dark colored anti-microbial inserts that snap right in. Lastly, the Lil Helper cloth diapers contain a PUL belly band to prevent wicking, which is perfect for belly sleepers.

AlvaBaby

Size Range | 6-33 Pounds

The AlvaBaby brand is a nice budget-friendly alternative to most other cloth diaper brands, and there are a ton of fabric designs to choose from. The “one-size”pocket diapers come with (2) 3-layer microfiber inserts that draw moisture away from baby’s skin, and the adjustable snaps allow the diapers to grow with your baby.

Thirsties

Thirsties

Size Range | 8-40 Pounds

The Thirsties [one size] All-In-One cloth diapers are great for babies and toddlers who like to unfasten their diapers thanks to a combination of hook & loop and snap closures! These diapers contain a built-in 3 layer microfiber terry soaker that absorbs an incredible seven times its weight in liquid. The soaker is topped with a stay-dry microfleece which keeps your baby feeling dry, and an additional layer of terry lies between the microfleece and TPU body of the diaper providing a last line of defense.

Bambino Mio

Bambino Mio

Size Range | 8-35 Pounds

The eco-chíc looking Bambino Mio Miosolo All-In-One Reusable Cloth Diapers are super soft and the one-size design means it will grow with your little one from baby to toddler. It also contains an inner pocket for inserts to maximize absorbency for heavy wetters. The material is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified which ensure that they are safe to use on baby’s sensitive skin.

Nora’s Nursery

Size Range | 8-35 Pounds

This hidden gem is not as well known as the brands above, but it is well worth the buy for many reasons. They are a small family-owned business, and all of their diapers come with 4-layer bamboo viscose inserts and wet bags. Bamboo inserts absorb more than microfiber and do not cause compression leaks. You can get a 7 cloth diaper bundle for under $70, making these the most affordable cloth diapers on this list. They have a ton of different fun fabric designs, and are available on Amazon.

Upcycled Spaghetti Jar Craft

A Chíc Way To Reuse Your Empty Glass Jar After That Delicious Pasta Dinner!

This post contains affiliate links which may earn us a commission.

The other day as I was cooking a spaghetti dinner, I began to admire the shape of the jar and talked myself out of throwing it out.

I gave it a good wash, scrubbed the label off with a course cleaning brush and some Dawn detergent, and let it dry.

My oldest child suggest that I upcycle it into a makeup brush holder since I don’t really have one. I thought it was a great idea.

The next day, as my kids were doing their own crafting projects, I whipped out my glue gun, some twine and some dried flowers that I had left over from a failed attempt at soap making.

Well, it turns out that I am much better at decorating glass jars because my spaghetti jar came out really, really cute—like ”I would buy that at the store if I saw it on the shelf” cute.

I can’t wait to do more designs in the future! This jar has so many potential uses.

What Can I Use An Upcycled Glass Jar For?

While I am using mine as a makeup brush holder, you can use your jar for so many more things!

You can use upcycled glass jars as vases, centerpieces, lanterns, candle holders, cooking utensil holders, piggy banks, and much more.

So check out my tutorial below (video included at the end) and have fun!

Supplies

  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Twine
  • Empty Glass Jar

Instructions

Take your twine and using your hot glue gun, glue the tip of the twine to the neck of the jar. Next, start wrapping the twine around the neck about 8-10 times around. Snip it off and secure it with glue.

Do the same near the base of the jar. Once you are done wrapping the twine around, snip it off and secure it with glue.

Once you have your twine wrapped around the jar, pick out whatever dried flower(s) you want and using your hot glue gun, secure them onto the twine.

You now have a lovely upcycled glass jar that can serve many purposes and look stylish in any space of your home.
